The angst in this book is gut wenching. Jake, Adam and Serena all have issues with not being good enough for their own reasons and it slows down their HEA. They've all been abandoned at least once in a very mean way by people that were supposed to care about them.Although it hurts while reading, and we may hate her for it, Lexi puts these characters through hell so they come out the other side stronger and willing to take the risk to be happy.
I'm not afraid to admit I cried while reading this book. I also laughed/snickered, got hot under the collar and was guessing up till the end for who the stalker/crazy guy was. Lexi has a way with words and quickly became one of my favorite authors shortly after this series began (although this is my 1st review it's my 3rd time reading the book). The books never get old and the characters are always bringing something new. I never want it to end.

“The Men With The Golden Cuffs” in the second book in Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series and this story is focused on hot ménage where a lovely woman is in need of protection from a potential stalker. These men in particular are assigned to this mission.
Adam and Jacob have always been in sync with each other and formed a tight unit ever since they served. Together they share their women, but these men are looking for much more. They want to settle down and find the one woman they can both love and cherish.
These two were both recruited into the McKay-Taggert security and ended up excepting a case to protect an author who’s had some intense threats thrown her way. Adam and Jacob believe the case is a waste believe that PR has fabricated this stunt herself, but they could help think she’s the perfect sub for both of them. As they spend time together they realize that the person who’s threatening her is getting dangerous and that her life could possibly be in danger.
Serena is a considerate, kind, passionate and shy woman who writes about BDSM and submission, but hasn’t actually experienced the life. She was married, but her ex-husband had tried to break down her confidence and the books she’s so passionate about. During all the put downs he gave her she hid her true nature of what she really craved.
Will Adam and Jacob be able to fix the damage that Serena’s ex-husband had done or will they just add to the wounds?
I have mixed feelings with this particular book. As much as I really enjoyed the story I felt like there was a lot of repetitive throw downs concerning Serena’s confidence. I understand that her ex-husband did a number on her where she wasn’t entirely sure what was right or wrong, but I felt like it took a while before her character showed growth.
However, I love that Adam and Jacob represented two opposite set of guys, but seemed to be just what Serena needed in her life. Jacob is the strict and serious Dom, while Adam was more sweet and easy going. But both men were equally pushy and gave off alpha male behavior when it came to Serena. The mystery that this story carried was interesting and I have to say that I couldn’t wait what else the culprits would do next.
The excitement was never ending and once again the pace, connection, sex scenes and overall the presentation of the story was spectacular.

I wanted to hate this series. The titles.... Let's just say I'm glad to be reading these on a reader. If not I'd feel compelled to add a brown paper cover or - sacrilege - fold the cover back or otherwise obliterate it. But, I've fallen and hard.
Lexi Blake writes a truly great book. Good characterization, compelling plot, brisk pacing. And, I have to admit it, the love scenes and sexual tension elements are Super Smexy.
I really connected with the characters of Adam and Jake in the first in the series so was excited to see that book 2 was theirs, though I did wonder how a romance with two heroes would play out. Wonderfully. That's how. Serena is the perfect heroine for them - with the right balance of strengths and weaknesses to make her the missing piece to the puzzle that was Jake and Adam's search for love.
All in all, separate from the titles - which I get are cute plays on James Bond movies and, I admit are evocative of the subject matter and stories - this series is excellent and I recommend it highly.
This is a book I really enjoyed with the two hot men and one real woman. Adam Miles and Jacob Dean met in the Army and have been together for 10 years sharing everything including women. They couldn't ever think of not being together and have been looking for " The Woman" who they could share their lives with and build a family together. Adam is the computer expert and Jacob is the muscle and both work for McKay-Taggart Security Services . When Adam meets Serena, he is all ready to go after her, but Jake has been burned more than once in his past and doesn't believe there is a woman who would work at menage with them. They want a family and children and am tired of one night stands. Serena Brooks is an erotic romance author delving into menages and is researching BDSM. This is her fantasy, but her ex and most of main stream America is critical of her books and her desires and now she has a threating stalker. The police don't believe her and McKay-Taggart is on the fence whether or not this is a publicity stunt. There are miscommunications, wrong assumptions, but that's life, things can get messy because we have all lived life and all come with our own past baggage. Everyone makes mistakes, but how they ultimately resolve and react to the mistakes that come up between them shows me how much they really care about each other. I find that it is much more satisfying reading the ups and downs of a beginning relationship than having rainbows and unicorns from the first time they set eyes on each other.
